At To Be Decorated we believe there’s no such thing as too many pillows. We love to incorporate a variety of textures, patterns, and colors. Below we’ve created a style guide so you can style pillows like a pro!
As for colors we wanted to make the blues in the room pop and tie the rug into the styling accents, so we chose the orange family as the complimentary accent color. To not overwhelm the eye and tie in the rest of the home we layed in neutrals, and pops of greens & blues.
On one accent chair we use the same pillow that we used on the couch to create symmetry, and the other chair we tied in a cozy throw blanket in the same color wave layered with a neutral lumbar pillow. On the ground we cozied up the space by adding a cream, textured pouf and cream and blue oversized floor cushion.
For pillows on benches we believe the more the merrier. We filled the entire back of the bench with varying size textures and colors to maximize on comfort and appeal.
-A mix of 26”, 24”, 20” and 18” square sizes layered on top of each other
-(2) 26” or 24”” as the back pillow on either side
-22” or 20” pillow layered in front on either side
- (1) lumbar pillow layered on one side for an asymmetrical look
For a child’s twin sized bed we kept the biggest sham pillow as the same pattern of the bed, and layered in textured neutral pillows and our pink tassels & applique pillow that ties in with the bedspread colors.
-(1) sham in matching bedspread print
-(1) 26” neutral, textured pillow layered in front
- (2) 18” fun, patterned pillow
- (1) lumbar pillow
